HOW DID YOU SLIP AWAY
HOW DID YOU SLIP AWAY is one of my never-released artist songs, originally written and recorded in the early 80’s and recently remastered.
Time is precious.
Moments come… and slip away.
Love. Life. People. Dreams.
We lose them to time, war, pollution… disease.
Some things we can’t control.
But we can choose to *feel*, to *remember*, and to *care*.
This is not just a love song.
It’s a reminder… of everything we’re trying to hold on to.
This track will also be included in my upcoming collection, From The Vault II (A Collection of Works by Jeff Silverman), featuring more unreleased music from the same era. The first collection, From The Vault (A Collection of Works by Rick Springfield and Jeff Silverman), was released during 2010-2015 on Frontiers Records.
LYRICS
Verse 1
So many nights I sit here all alone
Thinking about the past
Even though, it was long ago
You’re on my mind, my heart longs to find
You, back into my life
Like we were before
Oh, what I’d give to you
To feel our hearts on fire again
Chorus
Tell Me, how did slip away, slip away from me
Tell me how did slip away, slip away from me
When the band stopped playin’, the melody faded away
Verse 2
When I close my eyes, I can feel your touch
Your body’s close to mine
We’ll the visions clear, but it’s never enough
I want you hear right by my side
Oh, I know it’s history and life goes on from here
But you will always live in me
I will live this mystery
Chorus
Solo
Chorus
Tell Me, how did slip away, slip away from me
Tell me how did slip away, slip away from me
So tell me how did you slip away, just slip away from me
How did you slip away, slip away from me
When the band stopped playin’, the melody faded away
